KINDNESS, COMPASSION, RESPECT & ACCEPTANCE: NOT CONTROVERSY
There are many complex issues swirling through our current social dynamic ~ many of which are highly divisive and controversial. Our schools have been saddled with the awesome responsibility of trying to help children navigate their way through these changing times ~ all the while teaching a misguided curriculum to an overcrowded classroom!
Education's purpose is to help children make sense of the world, not make it more confusing! I feel we have been taking the wrong approach to issues concerning gender identity, sexual orientation and preferred pronouns. The BIOLOGY of these issues is an adult perspective that will be lost on children until they are cognitively ready to understand (it's kind of like trying to teach double-digit multiplication in grade 1...Oh wait...right!).
If elected, I will encourage a dialogue that cools the temperature of controversy surrounding these issues by focusing on things that children do understand:
- KINDNESS
- COMPASSION
- RESPECT and
- ACCEPTANCE
Let's turn our attention to supporting and nurturing the broad-based and deep-rooted HUMANITY that all children possess, so that when they are cognitively ready to be introduced to the BIOLOGY of these issues, it will land on a strong foundation of KINDNESS ~ COMPASSION ~ RESPECT & ACCEPTANCE
